The
health and well being of local people is affected by their exposure to
certain issues. These include crime, drug and alcohol misuse and anti-social
behaviour.
For
information on crime and disorder, anti-social behaviour or drugs issues,
contact the North Lincolnshire Safer Neighbourhoods Partnership.
Safer
Neighbourhoods is a partnership between the emergency services, local councils,
and public, private and voluntary sector agencies. They join forces to
help reduce crime, disorder and substance misuse. The partnerships were
formed as a result of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. Today there are
376 partnerships across England and Wales.
The
Safer Neighbourhoods Partnership was formerly known as the Community Safety
Partnership. In April 2004, the partnership merged with the North Lincolnshire
Drug Action Team. It then and took on the additional responsibility for
substance misuse (including drug and alcohol misuse).
We
work together with a number of different levels to improve community safety
in North Lincolnshire. From an executive boardroom to a resident's living
room, Safer Neighbourhoods work takes many different forms. For example
we:
- Meet
together at strategic levels to look at changing trends in crime and
drug use
- Share
information and ideas about crime and drugs
- Try
to improve the way existing services are delivered
- Commission
drug treatment services and crime reduction measures
- Encourage
young people to take up leisure activities
- Work
together with residents and voluntary groups on specific neighbourhood
problems
