Blindness and Visual Impairment

Help for people with sight loss

To be registered you first will need to be certified by a hospital consultant, either as blind (B) or partially sighted (PS). Once certified a specialist worker will visit you from the Sensory Impairment Service. The worker will explain concessions and services available to you.

Information on services available can be accessed via the Adult Social Care Directory.

If you are not certified but your sight can no longer be improved by use of better spectacles you can contact your local Care Management team who will make a referral for someone to visit you to see if any advice or assistance would be of any benefit.
