Welcome to our first Children and Young People's plan for North Lincolnshire.
When we say 'our' plan we mean it belongs to everyone in North Lincolnshire, especially children, young people and their families. The plan covers all the services provided for them by the council. This includes health services, schools and colleges, voluntary and community groups and many other local partners.
The plan helps give a sense of direction to the work of all the partner agencies working for children, young people and their families in North Lincolnshire. It establishes the priorities that we need to work on together over the coming year if we are to make difference in their lives.
The plan is based on three important themes, agreed by the North Lincolnshire Children's Board, over the coming year:
- Closing the gap for those who are disadvantaged
- Raising the aspirations of children and young people
- Celebrating our children and young people; their potential and their achievements
What difference will it make?
On its own a plan can't make any difference to the outcomes for people in the real world. But we can make a difference by bringing together all the local organisations and agencies who work with and for children and young people, getting them to agree a set of priorities and then making them public.
This is so that people can judge for themselves whether they are being achieved. That is what this plan is all about. If we can make progress on achieving the three themes outlined above then people in North Lincolnshire will notice a difference.
Where are we up to?
We have published the plan and distributed it as widely as we can. Copies are available from The Angel, Market Place, Brigg; Hewson House, Station Road, Brigg; Pittwood House, Ashby Road, Scunthorpe and via your Local Link and the library service.
We are implementing the plan and are developing the means to monitor and measure our progress in doing so. If you have comments or questions about the content of the plan, for example about the contribution your organisation or agency is making to our shared priorities, please discuss this with your line manager. If you are a member of the public please feel free to contact any of the organisations who have signed up to the plan or contact Alan New (see below) who will help you reach the appropriate person.
All the artwork used is by local children and young people and reflects aspects of the local area.

We have also produced a poster and bookmark about the priorities in the plan.
