North Lincolnshire Council can officially announce their Building Schools for the Future (BSF) blog was launched by Kevin Moloney, Consultant Headteacher for BSF and Community Development.
North Lincolnshire Council’s BSF blog is one of the first to be launched in the country. The council is embracing new technologies and leading by example by exploring new ways to get local people involved in the £80m project coming to the area.
The blog gives pupils, parents, grandparents and local businesses regular updates, the latest news and Kevin’s own experiences throughout the programme.
It also includes pictures and artist impressions of how the new schools could look. Once the blog has matured there will be a chance for readers to comment on Kevin’s blogged topics or submit their own enquiries for Kevin to help answer.
In the future ‘guest bloggers’ including Ade Williamson the BSF Project Director, Cllr Tony Gosling, Cabinet Member for Children Services and other lead players in the BSF team will also be invited to share their story of BSF on the site.
The blog is supported by the council’s Digital Inclusion Unit (DIU). The DIU team develop new services while supporting community access to the latest technologies. This is a council priority.
Cllr Tony Gosling, Cabinet Member for Children Services said:
"The world is changing and there is nothing better than leading by example.
This is exactly what North Lincolnshire Council is doing by launching the
BSF blog.
"The blog will tell the story of BSF as the project grows and matures. BSF
will benefit everyone and transform the way young people in North Lincolnshire
learn. The blog is our way of ensuring local people know what’s happening.
"The council’s BSF team and I believe keeping local people informed is the
most important thing. We want you to know what’s going on, why it’s happening
and when you will see the results. This is what we’ll be writing about in
the BSF blog."
Ade Williamson, BSF Project Director said:
"This is an innovative strategy to keep the people of North Lincolnshire
fully informed of the continued progress of BSF. It will enable us to consult
with the North Lincolnshire Community too as part of the process.”
Fraser Henderson, ICELE Centre Manager said:
"We are delighted that North Lincolnshire Council is adopting this innovative
approach to engaging with the BSF stakeholders. By championing an open, interactive
method such as this, BSF creates the opportunities and outreach for people
to discuss relate and engage with the programme."
