May half term Energize activities (9 May 2008)

PR 3489

From 12 May bookings will be taken for North Lincolnshire Council’s May half term Energize events. The council has a real mix of events for young people aged 8 to 15 years during the school break. And these will be held at Scunthorpe, Epworth and Ancholme Leisure Centres.

There’s loads of sporting activities on offer for youngsters to try including canoeing, fitness camps, and roller discos. The Energize programme gives children plenty of fun things to do and to try during their break from school.

At Ancholme Leisure Centre there’s a variety of activities running to suit everyone. This includes Rookies – an activity which shows youngsters junior life saving skills in the pool. Ancholme will also be holding its popular Aquanuts activity, which gives youngsters an hour’s worth of fun and games in the pool.

Scunthorpe Leisure Centre this half term will continue to raise the energy levels with a selection of modern activities. This includes Dance Mania where youngsters can sample global dancing styles ranging from cheerleading, bollywood, street and hula dancing. Scunthorpe will also be hosting a Fitness Boot Camp showing youngsters the ropes of combat, boxercise and strength training.

Epworth Leisure Centre is offering a real mix of activities for youngsters in the Isle. One event where youngsters will have the chance to get their skates on is roller disco. They just bring along their own skates and the leisure centre will provide the lights and the music for two hours of skating fun. And for people who aim to be the next Wimbledon champion, Epworth will also be holding a tennis activity. Youngsters can learn how to play tennis or can be shown how to brush up their existing skills and improve their game.

There are sessions available for all ages. Booking is recommended. Children are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear for each event. On Bank Holiday Monday, Epworth Leisure Centre will be closed for the day. Scunthorpe and Ancholme Leisure Centres will be open but will close at 3pm.
