Meetings are to take place to discuss the future of the Isle of Axholme. Yorkshire Forward has highlighted the area as a priority for regeneration. The Isle could benefit from millions of pounds of investment if the Government is successful.
We would like to invite you to attend one of these public meetings:
- 7pm Thursday 12 February 2004 at Crowle Community Hall
- 7pm Thursday 19 February 2004 at Epworth Imperial Hall
Yorkshire Forward’s Renaissance Market Towns (RMT) Programme is part of the Government’s plan to regenerate rural communities through jobs, services and communal activities. Yorkshire Forward proposes to improve quality of life in the Isle area.
Experts will be brought in to examine how the area can be enhanced and developed. The ‘town team’ (consisting of members of the community) will work together with Yorkshire Forward’s consultants to establish the changes to be implemented within the area. The team intends to create a vision for the future of the Isle of Axholme, as well as providing an investment plan for the area.
Councillor Don Stewart, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:
"The Renaissance Market Towns Initiative is a real opportunity for the Isle of Axholme.
"The Isle has great potential for regeneration. The Renaissance Market Towns Programme can help ensure this potential is tapped.
"For the Renaissance Market Towns Programme to be a success, it is vital that we draft together a team of community members with interest in the future of the Isle. Attendance to the meetings is essential in order to ensure the success of this project."
