Barton Clay Pits Nature Reserve

The clay pits which once supplied clay for thriving brick and tile-making industries have now been flooded and transformed into a nature reserve.

The Clay Pits Nature Reserve covers a five mile area along the Humber bank offering attractive walks and opportunities to view local wildlife, especially a large variety of birds. The nature reserve also provides excellent views of the Humber Bridge.

This is also a great place to visit for those interested in water-based activities with the North Lincolnshire Sailing Club (01652 632514) and the Humber Bridge Water Ski Club (0114 266 4501) offering year round activities.

For more information about the Clay Pits Nature Reserve please contact the environment team on 01724 297387,  email: environment.team@northlincs.gov.uk

or contact Far Ings National Nature Reserve on 01652 637055.
