Scunthorpe Heritage Trail

The Scunthorpe Heritage Trail is a project developed by the Scunthorpe Heritage Partnership using RESIDER II funding.

The first part of the trail, The Garden Walk, looks at Brumby Hall, one of Scunthorpe's most spectacular buildings, and traces the coming of the railway along the great viaduct. You'll walk through native woodland, unchanged for centuries in the very heart of the town, on to the peace and tranquility of three of Scunthorpe's most acclaimed parks and gardens. This scenic walk takes approximately one hour.

The second part of the trail entitled A Walk Through Town, traces the development of the former village of Scunthorpe into one of the world's leading steel producing areas. You'll learn how Scunthorpe grew, in the shadow of the steelworks, to provide shops and services for the growing population. Discover the Victorian industrial village built by Rowland Winn to provide homes for the influx of workers, now carefully restored and a Conservation Area. This enjoyable route takes approximately one and a half to two hours.

You can follow the routes for each of the walks on the Heritage Trail Map (132K) or you can consult each of the itineraries directly.
