Community learning

Community learning is a new area of activity for the learning team. We want everybody in North Lincolnshire to explore and share our regional heritage and to get the best out of the Museums Service. We will be doing this by working directly with community groups.

We have worked with under fives, residential and day care centres and rural community groups. More recently, we have developed the mini-museum scheme. This gives groups the chance to work with the museums team to create their own displays. These can be shown in community venues as well as the community space in the museum.

We are now working on personal and oral history projects and community led interpretation projects. We are also hoping to develop a network of rural heritage groups. We are always looking for new partners and welcome any groups who would like to work with the museum on projects like these.

If you have any great ideas for things that we can work with you on, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with Steve Thompson (community learning officer) or Lisa Staves (learning manager).
