Friends of the Museum is a voluntary group formed in 1990, that supports different aspects of the museum's work.
In the past the Friends group has given money either to help buy, or purchase outright and conserve more than 25 items.
Since it's formation 20 year's ago the Friends have given large objects such as the Johnson's motorcycle, the Ulceby beaker and the Anglo Saxon broach, to other numerous crucially important local artifacts.
These range from archaeological finds to smaller but equally important purchases including plants for the courtyard garden at the Museum, and Christmas decorations for Normanby Hall.
The Friends also help the North Lincolnshire Museum service in the following ways:-
- Help fund conservation work
- Geographical equipement
- Buying of equipment
- Organise lectures and visits
- Hold social events
- Volunteer work
Without this fundraising help many museum projects would not be possible.
The Friends meet on the second Thursday of the month at North Linconshire Museum and hold a Christmas event at Normanby each year.
