The People's Network
The People's Network started as a government-led initiative. It aimed to give everyone the opportunity to access the Internet through public libraries. In North Lincolnshire we have created a network of over 90 computers. These are in all our static libraries. There are at least three terminals at every library. You can use the computers to access a wide range of facilities and information. Some libraries also offer:
- Scanning facilities
- Specially adapted large keyboards
- Software to help provide access for people with visual impairments
The People's Network project has now entered its second phase. New online services have been developed to allow you to access public library services wherever you are, at any time.
Local authorities in England are working in partnership with the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council to develop these online services. The Big Lottery Fund is also supporting the project.
Watch out for special events and taster sessions at your local library in the coming months.
