North Lincolnshire Libraries and Information Services have a range of resources that can help with your legal queries and problems.
All North Lincolnshire libraries provide a basic level of legal information. We can also provide you with access to the online directory from the Community Legal Advice service, as well as the wealth of other legal information available on the Internet. We can help with your enquiries and, if needed, we will signpost you on to other agencies.
In North Lincolnshire Reference Library we have a much larger collection of legal information resources, from basic guides to detailed legislative documents. These resources are all available for you to use in the Central Reference Library. We also have a wide range of law books available for you to borrow from the Central Lending Library.
The specialist legal resources we hold in North Lincolnshire Reference Library include:
- Acts of Parliament (1921 - present)
We hold full text copies of all General and Public Acts from 1921 to the present day. These are collected into yearly volumes.
- Halsbury's Statutes (Up to February 2007)
Halsbury's Statutes divide the statute law of England and Wales which is currently in force into subject areas. It is continuously updated to ensure currency and accuracy of information.
- Halsbury's Laws of England (Up to February 2007)
Halsbury's Laws provide a subject based guide to the interpretation of law largely derived from judgements in specific legal cases heard in the High Court and is updated continuously.
- All England Law Reports (1971 - 2007)
These contain the full reports of leading cases heard in the House of Lords, Privy Council, Court of Appeal and the High Court.
- European Law
The reference library can help with tracing European directives. Directives do not usually have a specific title and are referred to by number and date e.g. directive 93/42/EEC of June 1993 relating to medical devices.
In the Reference Library we also hold a number of publications specifically concerned with UK employment and health and safety law.
