We review our stock of books on an ongoing basis to ensure our stock is up to date and relevant.
When books reach the end of their useful life, we withdraw and dispose of them. We dispose of books for a variety of reasons. These include when:
- they are in poor physical condition
- the content is out of date
- a more recent edition is available
- few people are borrowing the book.
We sell off many of these items to the public. You can see the latest books for sale at North Lincolnshire Central Library.
We offer general fiction and non-fiction books for sale at low prices. But some reference or specialist items are set at a higher price.
In a recent pilot project we sold off a number of library books through E-Bay, the online auction facility. We are currently reviewing this pilot project and may sell off more library books this way in the future.
