Trade Directories

The Local Studies section of the Reference Library houses a collection of nineteenth and early twentieth century trade directories from Lincolnshire.

These directories cover towns and villages from the whole of Lincolnshire providing information about the geographical location, history, buildings and population of each locality. They also include lists of private and commercial residents of the time - a very useful source for family historians as well as enabling the local historian to build up a picture of particular settlements over a period of time.

The collection includes the following Lincolnshire directories:

  • Morris' Directory:
    1863
  • Kelly's Directory:
    1849, 1855, 1868, 1876, 1885, 1889, 1892, 1896, 1900, 1905, 1909, 1913, 1919, 1922, 1926, 1930, 1933, 1937
  • White's Directory:
    1826, 1842, 1856, 1872, 1882, 1892
