How to join the library

Joining your local library is easy. Membership is free and open to everyone.

To join you simply need to visit your local library, bringing along acceptable proof of your name and address or a current library membership card valid for a different UK library authority.

If you do not have either of the above with you on your visit, you can still join the library on an 'Introductory' basis.  This membership is valid for three months and allows you a limited loan entitlement and access to a range of other services such as The People's Network and Online Reading Room.  You will need to convert to 'full' membership before the end of the three months by bringing in proof of name and address or another library card as above.

Children and young people under 16 years of age must have their registration card signed by a guarantor (parent or guardian), accompanied by acceptable proof of the guarantor's name and address or the guarantor's own library card. There is no lower age limit for children joining the library.

When you join, you will be issued with a library card and four-digit PIN, which can be used to log on to the People's Network in the library, and to the North Lincolnshire Virtual Library from home.

Once you have your library membership card you can start borrowing the books and other items available for loan. You can also use your card to access library computers (along with your PIN, as above) and use online reference resources.

You do not need to be a member of a library to use the many facilities available within any of North Lincolnshire libraries.

You are welcome to spend time in any of our libraries and to browse books, newspapers and local information at your leisure. However, membership is free of charge and does allow you access to a great many services, so why not join?

You can also join online to reserve books and use the Online Reading Room straightaway.

Simply visit the library catalogue and click on 'join the library'.

To use the full range of library services, just collect your card from any library in North Lincolnshire, bringing acceptable proof of your name and address.
