It doesn't cost anything to borrow books from the library, but charges do apply to some other services and materials.
You can have up to 20 books on loan at any one time. You also have a separate borrowing allowance for non-book items such as talking books.
You can normally borrow books and other items for up to 21 days.
If you cannot find the book or item you require in your local library it may still be possible for us to obtain it. For a small charge you can make a reservation for the item and we will do our best to get it for you.
If another member of the library does not require the item you have borrowed, you can extend the loan period for another 21 days. You can make renewals in person, by telephone or by post to your local library. You can also renew loans online by signing in with your ten digit card number and PIN.
There is usually no limit to the number of times you can extend the loan of an item. The exception is when another library member has requested the item, in which case the item needs to be returned as soon as possible; or extended for a short period to allow you to do this. You will need to ask a member of staff to do this for you in person or over the phone.
If you forget to return items by the date that they are due back you may be required to pay a fine for each item overdue.
If you lose or accidentally damage an item which you have borrowed from the library you will be charged for its replacement or any cost incurred in repairing any damage. Children under six are exempt from this charge.
