Bounce into books

The Bounce into Books festival came to North Lincolnshire in February 2010. It brought a pair of top authors to talk to children and young people in some of our local schools.

The festival took place all across the Yorkshire and Humber region where libraries teamed up with a group of publishers, all represented by Bounce.

Here in North Lincolnshire author Julie Irwin visited three schools. She talked about her debut children's book Edwin Spencer: Mission Improbable. Pupils from St Norberts Catholic Primary School, Crowle Primary School and Riddings Junior School got to meet Julie in person and hear about her latest creation.

Johnny O'Brien visited Huntcliff School and Baysgarth School to talk to pupils about his latest novel Day of the Assassins. It's a fast-paced time travel adventure set during the First World War and is well worth a read.

Bounce into Books aimed to help children from four years old to teenagers find out how books are created and hear about the working lives of authors and illustrators. At the same time it introduced children and their families to public libraries and encouraged them to keep visiting.

You can find out more about the publishers and the authors by visiting the festival website.
