North Lincolnshire Libraries are delighted to introduce parents to the pleasures of sharing a book with your baby.
It is never too early to start sharing books with your child. Even if they may not understand the words, they love hearing your voice.
Children who have been used to books at an early age learn to read more quickly at school.
Books are fun for babies - and their parents.
Did you know?
- Babies can join the library from the day they are born.
- Babies are welcome at all North Lincolnshire Libraries.
- All libraries have books suitable for young babies.
- If you want a book for your baby that we don't have, or that is already on loan, we can reserve it for you free of charge.
Don't worry:
- If your baby makes a noise or cries in the library - our staff are very understanding.
- If your baby's books are returned late - there are no fines for children's books, although you may be asked to pay for any reminders that we send you.
- If your baby loses or damages a book - we won't charge you for it.
Events:
We regularly hold events for babies and children across our libraries. We advertise them on our events listing page. All children are welcome, no matter how young!
Bookstart Bear Club
Your baby can take part in our Bookstart Bear Club, the exciting new library offer for under-fives. This replaces our previous scheme, the Book Crawl. Join in and get lovely goodies and certificates.
Not only can you borrow books from the library for free, your baby is also entitled to a free pack of books as part of the Bookstart scheme.
