Libraries

The council's libraries and information services offer an extensive range of services to the local community.

We operate one central library, 14 branch libraries and two mobile libraries. Library users can select from a wide variety of books and other materials.

The library service is also your link with other local, regional and national libraries and specialist information services.

Events

2008 is the National Year of Reading. There are lots of activities and events happening. Visit our National Year of Reading pages to find out more.

ReadNorthLincs is now online. Join in with our library blog, online discussion boards and much more. If you love reading then tell us all about it!

Every Thursday Story time at North Lincolnshire Central Children's Library from 10am to 10.30am (continues throughout the school holidays).

Every Monday (during term time), Story time at Barton Library from 2pm to 2.30pm.

Until 31 January 2009 - Enter our competition to win a camping holiday to Europe simply by borrowing two books from your local library.

October - Team Read medal presentations, watch ths space for photos of some of the completers.

Saturday 11 October - Pirates Ahoy! activity session for pre-school children at North Lincolnshire Central Library from 10am  to 2pm. Older siblings are welcome but under eights must be accompanied by an adult. Pirate fancy dress optional.

Saturday 25 October - Readers' Festival at The Ropewalk, Barton upon Humber.

Wednesday 5 November - Coffee morning at Park Library from 10am to 1pm.

Friday 14 November - Starring John Hegley at North Lincolnshire Central Library.

Friday 28 November - From Crimewatch and Yahoo to a Perfect Night: an evening with Peter Grimsdale at The Angel, Brigg.

Wednesday 3 December - Coffee morning at Park Library from 10am to 1pm.

Saturday 10 January 2009 - An Evening with Colin Dexter at the Plowright Theatre, Scunthorpe.

New library services

Join the library online. Want to start reserving books and using our online services, but not yet a member? Now you can join online and start using our services straightaway.

New kind of talking book. We are now offering readers an exciting new format called Playaway, a type of MP3 player. This is very lightweight, compact and easy to use. Read about it on our talking books page.

Other news

Crowle Local Link will be temporarily moving into Crowle Library from Monday 1 September. This is to allow building work to take place at Crowle Resource Centre.

New "Reading Corner" at Crosby Local Link - We now have a selection of multicultural books available for loan from Crosby Local Link. The collection includes items in English, Arabic, Bengali, Punjabi, Italian and Urdu. There is also a small collection of books on citizenship. (A much larger selection of books in these and other languages are available from North Lincolnshire Central Library).
