Disability is no barrier to fitness

Scunthorpe Leisure Centre's health club is one of only 150 Inclusive Fitness Initiative sites in the country.

Alan Rayment is the council’s Inclusive Fitness Activator, based at the leisure centre. He works to prove that disability is no barrier to health and fitness. Alan invites people with disabilities to find out how he can help them keep fit and active by showing them how to make the most of the facilities at Scunthorpe Leisure Centre.

Our Health club offers a large range of equipment that is accessible and easy to use.

The leisure pool is wheelchair accessible and hoist facilities are available.

Alan is a wheelchair user and works to show other people with disabilities how easy it is to maintain an active life. He can help show people how to use the specialist equipment in the health club. He’s even happy to train alongside people with disabilities to help build up their confidence at the leisure centre.

If you have a disability and would like to speak to Alan Rayment about using Scunthorpe Leisure Centre, simply phone the centre on 01724 280555 or email: Scunthorpe.leisurecentre@northlincs.gov.uk.
