Training courses at Ancholme Leisure Centre

National pool lifeguard qualification

Train to be a pool lifeguard with our National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

Unit 1 and 2 covers the principles of lifesaving and swimming pool supervision.

The course is open to people aged 16 and above and you must be able to perform the following:

  • Swim 100 metres using three different stroke techniques
  • Tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to touch the bottom of the deepest part of the pool
  • Jump/ dive into the pool.

Fridays 23 July to 3 September 2010

Become a swimming teacher!

Ancholme Leisure Centre hosts Level 1 and Level 2 coaching courses for new and existing swimming teachers.

NARS pool safety award

An essential qualification for new STA swimming teachers who do not possess an RLSS Pool Lifeguard qualification (or equivalent).

£30 (plus membership to STA)

Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to carry out various defined water rescue activities in a safe manner.

Dates to be booked to coincide with STA swimming teachers course (based on demand).
