National pool lifeguard qualification
Train to be a pool lifeguard with our National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
Unit 1 and 2 covers the principles of lifesaving and swimming pool supervision.
The course is open to people aged 16 and above and you must be able to perform the following:
- Swim 100 metres using three different stroke techniques
- Tread water for 30 seconds
- Surface dive to touch the bottom of the deepest part of the pool
- Jump/ dive into the pool.

Become a swimming teacher!
Ancholme Leisure Centre hosts Level 1 and Level 2 coaching courses for new and existing swimming teachers.
Our next courses are as follows:
STA level 1
Sundays 21 and 28 November, 12 December 2010 and 9 and 16 January 2011.

NARS pool safety award
An essential qualification for new STA swimming teachers who do not possess an RLSS Pool Lifeguard qualification (or equivalent).
£30 (plus membership to STA)
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to carry out various defined water rescue activities in a safe manner.
Dates to be booked to coincide with STA swimming teachers course (based on demand).
