Course features

One of the many attractions of the course is the unique nature of the 18 holes. Each offers a challenge to golfers at every level.

The par four, third hole 'devil's elbow' is regarded as Normanby's feature hole. This 90 degree dog-leg hole requires an accurate tee shot to the corner, with another needed to tackle the approach to the green over a ravine and through an alley of trees. Again, thoughtfully positioned bunkers are ready to catch any wayward shots.

The par three, eighth hole 'through the gap' is a classic example. At 182 yards, it's a test of any golfer's nerve. It's played off a raised tee box, through an alley of trees, over a ravine to a well-bunkered green.

The par five, twelfth hole 'double trouble' offers a different challenge. It needs a good drive off the tee, avoiding the trees on the right and the out of bounds on the left. The successful golfer can then decide whether to lay up or attack the green in two with a shot over a ditch and well-positioned trees. A well-bunkered green provides the final challenge.
