Proposed design
Major progress is now being made to provide North Lincolnshire with a brand new, landmark, £16-million entertainment venue.
The latest plans for the former Baths Hall site on Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe, have now been released and we are keen to get your feedback on them. You can view the designs and the plans below.
The new building will incorporate:
- 2,000 people standing
- 1,200 people seated
- Conference facilities
- Bar and café
- Ticket office
- Extensive backstage facilities
The council has now short listed six companies being invited to tender for the £16m contract. Eighty-one companies in total expressed an interest.
The next stage of the tender process will concentrate on cost competition. It will be based on the landmark design that has been led by the council's own architects.
Work will start on site around April 2010 and will be completed by around July 2011.
The successful bidder will be appointed around Spring 2010. This is to ensure they have plenty of time to attract top class bands and productions to the new venue.
If you want more information why not have a look at the frequently asked questions? We also held drop-in sessions for local residents and the wider public.
The sessions gave everyone the chance to see the plans first hand and to speak to some of the people involved in the development of this project.
The first drop-in session was held on 12 September 2008 at the Royal Hotel on Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe. Further sessions were held on 26 and 27 September 2008 in The Foundry in Scunthorpe.
