Countryside volunteers

Volunteering on North Lincolnshire nature reserves

Why not join us as a volunteer at one of our countryside sites? You can take part in many different activities, based on your interests and abilities.

Volunteer mission statement

Commitment to raising achievement through high quality lifelong learning opportunities for the people of North Lincolnshire.

Volunteer tasks

  • Help and preparation of events
  • Tree maintenance
  • Scrub clearance
  • Monitor visitor figures
  • Wildflower meadow management.
  • Wildlife surveys
  • Site clean-ups and routine chores
  • Weekend work. To gain event management experience
  • Bramble and nettle clearance
  • Bird and bat box construction
  • Seed gathering (trees and flowers)
  • Seed sowing and stratifying
  • Footpath maintenance
  • Pond management
  • Adhere to health and safety legislation
  • Adhere to codes of practice

Overall purpose of a volunteer

As a volunteer will work alongside the ranger or other staff at Waters' Edge. And sometimes at other local nature reserves.

Supervision

As a volunteer you will be supervised by the ranger or local nature reserve officer.

What we would like from our volunteers

  • Use of their skills and potential to enhance the environment of North Lincolnshire.
