Child protection

Play and sports organisations are becoming increasingly aware that some individuals, who want to harm and abuse children, will use leisure as a medium to gain access to them.

New legislation and national guidance recommends that all organisations should have child protection procedures in place with training, working practices and codes of conduct to safeguard children.

There are a number of courses available.

A Safeguarding and Protecting Children course from Sports Coach UK is offered by Leisure Services. This course is for people in a sport setting. For more information see the courses section of the lincs2leisure website.

The Local Safeguarding Children's Board offers many child protection courses at different levels.
