Open Contemporary Art and Sculpture Exhibition 2011 - entry information

17 September to 19 November 2011

20-21 Visual Arts Centre's 11th open contemporary art and sculpture exhibition invites artists from North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire and Lincolnshire to take part.

Entry forms will be included as part of the May to November 2011, 20-21 Visual Arts Centre Exhibitions and Events Leaflet which will be available from mid-May.

Submitting work:

Please read all the entry conditions and complete all relevant sections of the entry form.

There are two classes for submission:

Class I: Painting, printmaking, drawing, photography and digital media.

Class II: Sculpture, ceramics and three dimensional work.

Class I work must be delivered to 20-21, with a completed entry form, on one of the following dates:

  • Thursday 1 September 2010
  • Friday 2 September 2010
  • Saturday 3 September 2010

Artists submitting Class II work should send up to six good quality slides or photographs of each work, with a completed entry form. Please write your name and the title of the work on each slide or photograph. Postal submissions will be accepted. If the work is selected you must try to deliver it to 20-21 to comply with installation requirements.

All works must be unpacked on delivery and the packing materials taken away.

Insurance

Works are submitted at the owner's risk. 20-21 shall not be liable for loss or damage, howsoever caused, during transport, storage and selection. It's the responsibility of the artist to arrange proper and adequate insurance cover against these risks.

All works selected for the exhibition will be insured under the terms of 20-21's existing policy. This is from the time of selection to the time of collection following the exhibition's closure.

Selection

Judging will take place during the week beginning Monday 5 September. This years judges will be Sheila Mcgregor, chief executive of AXIS online artists' information database and Sonja Keilty, Museums Officer at Bradford Museums and Galleries.

The judges' decision is final and no correspondence or communication regarding the selection can be entered into.

After selection

All entrants will be notified by post of the judges' decision. Selected work must remain at 20-21 until the close of the exhibition.

Sales

A commission rate of 35 per cent plus VAT on the commission will be added to all sale prices. All works for sale must be the property of the artist.

Conditions of entry

  • Artists must live in North Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire or North East Lincolnshire
  • Artists must be aged 16 or over
  • Work submitted must be of the artist's origination and must be no more than three years old
  • Artists may submit a maximum of three works of art
  • There will be an entry fee of £2.50 (£1.50 concessions) per entry. Concessions include senior citizens, those on Job Seekers Allowance and students. (Proof required in all cases at the time of entry.)
  • Acceptance into the final exhibition cannot be guaranteed and entry fees are not refundable
  • There are two classes for submission;
    Class I: painting, printing, drawing, photography and digital media.
    Class II: sculpture
  • Class I work must either be framed or, if on canvas, stretched, with means to secure the work with mirror-plates, and marked 'TOP' on the back
  • All works will have mirror plates attached to them. Please remove all other hanging fixtures before submission
  • 'Clip' frames and metal frames are not permitted.
