Education and Outreach

20-21 usually offers an education service with creativity and learning at its core, complimenting our rich and changing exhibition programme. Due to a staff vacancy which we hope to fill in the Spring of 2012, we will only be offering the following services:

Self guided visits

All self-guided visits should be booked in advance, even for groups of 10 and under, by contacting the reception desk on 01724 297070. A preparatory visit to 20-21 is strongly advised. Free to all groups without the use of the activity table.

Artist led workshops

All of our artists’ workshops can be delivered at 20-21 to coincide with a gallery visit or are available as an outreach workshop at your venue.

Mobile theatre with Janet Schooley:

Children collect their own waste packaging and junk materials and use them during the workshop to design and make their own puppet for a mobile theatre. Strong links to literacy and story telling with the possibility to link to a specific play or retell a familiar story.
Suitable for KS1 and KS2
Full day workshop £240
Available outreach.

3D textiles with Nicky Dillerstone:

A tactile workshop exploring colour, basic stitching and fabric/thread manipulation. Children work individually to explore different materials and create part of a large 3D textile art piece inspired by a nest or secret place. This workshop links well to literacy and can be used as a wonderful starting point for creative language and story telling.
Suitable for KS1 and KS2
Full day workshop £242
Available outreach.

Moving mechanics with Pete Rodgers:

Working alongside artist Pete Rodgers children make their own wire and wood automata with a crank mechanism. Involves using pliers, wire cutters, wire twisters and a battery drill. Children can modify mechanisms depending on their capability and can easily link to specific classroom themes.
Suitable for KS2 from Y4
Full day workshop £242
Available outreach.

Mud men with Janet Schooley:

Inspired by hearing Janet read from the book she has written and illustrated ‘Bug a Lugs’, children then have the opportunity to make their own mud man sculpture from a special earthy clay mixture. A wonderfully tactile workshop, which can accommodate up to 60 pupils in two groups.
Suitable for KS1 and KS2
Half day workshop £121
Available outreach.

Sketchbooks with Mandy Keating:

Make your own sketchbooks with book maker Mandy Keating. Children work individually to make either an exposed spine book, accordian book or Japanese stab bound book with optional pockets.
Suitable for KS2 and KS3
Full day workshop £220 or £240 depending on the type of book made.
Available outreach.
