Fun for all the Family

20-21 Visual Arts Centre is a fun, safe and creative family friendly venue. We welcome children of all ages and have free daily drop in activities for children and parents to explore the arts together. Creative adults and young people are also welcome to take part in our drop in activities.

All activities are free of charge and run from 10am to 5pm unless stated. Programme may be subject to alterations.

26-28 August

Plotting Patterns
Create simple but stunning thread patterns, inspired by the sculptures of Halima Cassell.

29-30 August / 2 September

Tessellations
Come along and help fill the gallery floor with bold tessellated patterns created from repeated geometric shapes and influenced by Islamic art.

6 September

In Your Shoes
Influenced by the sculptures of Sue Goldschmidt make a pair of miniature paper shoes. Cover your shoes with personal memories and experiences you have had.

13 September

Cross Stitch in the Jungle
Inspired by colourful and rich Mayan textiles and artist Chris Roantree's adventures in the Guatemalan jungle, design and make your own textile art.

20 September

Hanging by a Thread
Inspired by artist Sue Goldschmidt's unconventional use of materials, create a sculptural hanging exploring unusual materials and combinations.

27 September

Folk Arts and Fairy Tales Day
Join artists and 20-21 staff in a fun packed day of creative activities to celebrate the opening of Folk Art and Fairy Tales and Big Draw Day.

Please note:

  • Children must be supervised by a parent or carer during drop-in activities
  • 20-21 cannot accept responsibility for unaccompanied children who are not attending book-in activities and their safety cannot be guaranteed
  • Parents are welcome to attend book-in activities
  • The programme may be subject to additions or alterations
  • Donations for free activities are gratefully received
  • To avoid disappointment all organised groups should contact us before their visit
  • Groups of more than 10 will be charged £10.
