North Lindsey College
Governing body
North Lindsey College is inviting individuals who are interested in contributing to the strategic leadership of post 16 education and training to apply to become governors. The corporation board is particularly keen to raise the gender and ethnicity profile of the group and would therefore welcome nominations from women’s organisations or community associations representing ethnic minority groups as these sectors of the population are currently under represented. All applications will be given genuine consideration.
With an excellent Ofsted inspection behind it, in which many areas of exemplary/outstanding provision were recognised, the College is embracing the Government's commitment to the UK becoming a world leader in skills by 2020.
Some of the comments from Ofsted Inspectors during the recent inspection included:
“Provision to meet the needs and interests of the learners is outsanding”
“Teaching staff are well qualified both in their subject areas and as teachers”
“Success Rates for key skills qualifications is much higher than those seen nationally”
“Employer engagement and partnership working are outstanding – training is tailored well to the specific needs of the 1,600 employers involved with the College”.
North Lindsey College is the major provider of post 16 education and training opportunities in North Lincolnshire with nearly 13,000 students annually, of whom 1,500 are full time. The College has an annual budget of around £20m and employs approximately 600 staff.
All appointments to the corporation board, with the exception of the principal who is appointed ex-officio, are subject to open competition and are made on merit following an interview with the search committee. These positions are voluntary and hence only travelling expenses are reimbursed by the College.
As a Board member you will be helping to define the character and mission of the College, ensuring resources are properly monitored and developing the future strategy of this independent further education corporation and current members have expressed their appreciation of the personal development they have experienced in dealing with the wide range of issues under consideration. Current members have also commented on the excellent opportunities open to Members to develop their own expertise in such diverse areas as finance, human resources, strategic planning and monitoring of progress etc.
If you think you can contribute to the continued success of the College, we would like to hear from you. Please write to the Clerk to the Corporation for further information.
