Advance Crosby

Advance Crosby is a multimillion-pound regeneration scheme that will totally transform parts of the Crosby area of Scunthorpe. Our vision is to improve housing, communal areas and green spaces. This will be done through:

  • Improving housing
  • Building new affordable housing for sale and rent
  • Transforming the Memorial Gardens
  • Creating more open space

We have created three sites on West Street by demolishing the existing housing. Pending redevelopment, wildflower meadows have been created, which have generated a good deal of positive feedback from local residents. We are now in the process of acquiring properties in the West Street leg of Gurnell Street, pending demolition at a future date.

Advance Crosby - Memorial Gardens

The Memorial Gardens is Scunthorpe town centre's largest area of open green space.

Though the Memorial Gardens already reaches North Lincolnshire Council's agreed maintenance standards, Advance Crosby will strive to improve the gardens even further.

The Memorial Gardens has great potential. The council hopes to enhance this area by:

  • Opening up the area to increase people's awareness of the gardens
  • Adding lighting to make it a safer environment for children to play
  • Planting flower beds to make the park more visually appealing

The Memorial Gardens is a perfect place for people to socialise, relax, play and exercise. It is also ideal for anyone who works in the town centre to sit and have their lunch.

Advance Crosby - housing

The existing houses within the project area were all built at the beginning of the 20th century.

The new properties will be well designed, attractive and energy efficient.

The Masterplan is designed so each new property will make the most of its location, particularly in respect of the Memorial Gardens.

Not all properties will be demolished and rebuilt in the project area as we feel some of the historic element needs to remain to supplement the re-developed properties. There is a plan for the council to assist some homeowners to improve their houses to an agreed standard.

The aim is to create an area where old and new complement each other.
