Supported housing
Supported housing is housing that helps people to live independently in their own home whatever their age.
This type of housing is usually general needs housing or adapted housing with support to meet the needs of residents. This support will be provided through the Supporting People service.
The main aim of Supporting People is to provide good quality housing-related support services to vulnerable people. This is to help people to live at home independently for as long as they want to, or are able to. By doing this, Supporting People helps vulnerable people live independently in the community, rather than being housed in an institution, or a home.

Sheltered housing
Sheltered housing is designed for older people. The accommodation is fitted with emergency pull cords connected to a 24 hour call centre that will provide help in the event of an emergency.
Sheltered housing is usually available to people over the age of 60, however can be made available to people who are younger with special housing needs.
Tenants of sheltered housing can have visits from a support worker to help them with any housing or tenancy related issues.
