Housing associations

Housing associations are the main providers of affordable housing across the country and many own or manage affordable homes in North Lincolnshire.

Housing associations offer affordable properties to rent or buy as low cost home ownership. They provide housing for people whose housing needs cannot be met by the open market. Low cost home ownership schemes in North Lincolnshire include:

There are 17 housing associations operating within North Lincolnshire who can provide affordable homes. The largest housing association in North Lincolnshire is North Lincolnshire Homes. For more information and to find out more about how they are run, the types of property they offer and applying for a housing association property, visit:

Housing register

If you are interested in applying for an affordable home you need to register on the housing waiting lists for the housing associations in the area.

In North and North East Lincolnshire, the three largest housing associations have come together with the two councils to launch a joint scheme called Home Choice Lincs. If you are interested in a home with North Lincolnshire Homes in North Lincolnshire or Shoreline Housing or Havelock & Longhurst Homes in North East Lincolnshire you can simply register once with Home Choice Lincs.

Any housing association will not have enough homes to house everyone on the list at any one time; therefore you will have to wait to be housed. Those with the highest needs will be housed first.

To help with your process of being housed make sure:

  • You complete the application in full
  • All the information asked for and needed is there
  • Make sure you fill the application in clearly.

This will help the housing association to assess your application properly.
