Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)

Over the coming years health and social care services in North Lincolnshire will face considerable challenges. The needs of our population are changing and expectations are increasing.

At the same time, public sector spending is likely to come under increasing pressure, making priority setting more important than ever.

In order to meet these challenges and provide effective, high quality public services, NHS North Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire Council must base their decisions on sound evidence of local need.

To help local agencies do this, a joint profile of local population needs is produced each year. This is known as a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA).

The JSNA pulls together and summarises all existing, relevant information about local needs including statistics about health and social care trends, as well as local views about their needs and what people want from future services.

Our first edition of the JSNA focused on the needs of older people and people with long term conditions. Since then, other summaries have been developed, including a JNSA which focuses on children and young people and a summary of the needs of vulnerable adults.

Summaries of the JSNA can be found and downloaded at NHS North Lincolnshire.
