Primary, junior and infant schools

The council runs the Super Recycler scheme for primary, infant and junior schools across North Lincolnshire.
A morning or afternoon visit by a recycling officer to a class includes:
- A short interactive talk showing how pupils can become Super Recyclers like the characters Sammy and Sally pictured above.
- A recycling game where pupils race against each other to place pictures of recyclable materials in the correct containers
- All of the pupils will be given a comic with a variety of activities -including colouring in sheets, mazes and word searches – which can be completed in class or at home
- When the children have completed the activities in the comic teachers are asked to fill in and sign the certificate stating that they are now super recyclers, which can be presented to pupils in class or at assembly
- At the end of the session pupils will be set a challenge to draw or build a 'landfill monster' from used materials
- The winning design from each school will be displayed in our landfill monster gallery.
Secondary schools
Visits can also be organised to secondary schools to talk in more detail about recycling, highlighting:
- The benefits of recycling
- The box, bin and bag scheme in North Lincolnshire
- What happens to the materials residents recycle.
Household recycling centre visits
Officers can also organise a free tour of one of the household recycling centres to learn more about the variety of materials residents can recycle in North Lincolnshire.
