Burgundy bin

Plastic and cardboard recycling Plastics Cardboard

Most households in North Lincolnshire have a burgundy bin for the collection of certain types of plastics and cardboard.

Collection dates of your wheeled bins, can be found on your calendar. If you do not have a calendar, why not check out our waste and recycling collection dates page to find out when your wheeled bins will be collected over the next four weeks? Plastic - yes please...

  • Plastic drink bottles (please remove the lids)
  • Plastic milk bottles
  • Plastic shampoo/conditioner bottles
  • Plastic cosmetic bottles
  • Plastic washing up liquid and detergent bottles
  • Any plastic container or lid that bears the logos below:

PET (reycling symbol 1) - HDPE (recycling symbol 2) - PP (recycling symbol 5)

Please remove lids, wash and squash containers.

Plastic - no thanks...

  • Carrier bags/plastic film (for example bread wrappers)
  • Paint pots
  • Engine oil bottles
  • Plant pots/seed trays
  • Garden hosepipes
  • Mastic/sealant tubes
  • Waxed containers (for example long life milk/juice cartons)
  • Crisp packets
  • Polystyrene trays
  • Any plastic container that bears the logos below:

PVC (recycling symbol 3) - LDPE (recycling symbol 4) - PS (recycling symbol 6) - OTHER (recycling symbol 7)

Cardboard - yes please...

Any household cardboard including:

  • Cereal boxes
  • Tea bag boxes
  • Any coloured card
  • Cardboard packaging
  • Toilet/kitchen roll tubes
  • Greeting cards.

Cardboard pieces should be no larger than an average sized cereal box, and should be flattened.

Please ensure there is no food waste on any cardboard placed in the bin. Also please remove any sticky or parcel tape from the cardboard.

Cardboard - no thanks...

  • Waxed containers (for example long life milk/juice cartons)
  • Foil backed cardboard (for example crisps/snack tubes)
  • Any cardboard which has been in contact with food waste (for example takeaway containers and lids)
  • Sticky or parcel tape.

Only waste in the wheeled bin will be collected and the lid should be closed. Plastic bottles and cardboard can also be recycled at the Household Recycling Centres. Plastic recycling facilities are also available at other community locations across North Lincolnshire.

Please do not compact waste into the wheeled bin as it may not empty. If waste is compacted you will be left a courtesy card and you will have to empty the bin yourself.

New and replacement bins

New residents are provided with a burgundy bin free of charge.

You may also be eligible for a free replacement bin if yours has been lost, damaged or stolen. For more details and to apply for a new or replacement bin please fill in our online wheeled bin form.
