Dealing with your planning application

The case officer dealing with your application will look at it carefully before making a site visit.

As a result of this site visit, or because we receive comments from other people, your proposal may need amending to make it more acceptable. You can contact the case officer at any time to ask about the progress of your application.

Professionally qualified senior officers of the council take most decisions. These are referred to as delegated decisions. Certain other applications have to go to the planning committee for a decision. Details of how the scheme works can be found in the council's Scheme of Delegation. There is further information about the committee process in the Planning Committee section.

We will notify you (or your agent) within three working days of making a decision on your application. The notice will tell you:

  • the outcome
  • any conditions that have been imposed
  • how to make an appeal if your application is refused or you do not agree with any of the conditions.

We will also write to anyone who has commented on the application to inform them of the outcome.
