Welcome to North Lincolnshire Council's Online Expert System.
This system will tell you whether you need planning permission and building regulations for a specific property or site.
What you will need
You will need the following information to hand to use the system:
- The location of the property or site. For example a house number, street name and/or postcode
- What you are proposing to do. For example build an extension, install satellite dish
- For extensions or new buildings, you will need to know the dimensions (height, width, length) of the proposal and position in relation to the highway
- For advertisements, you may need to know the length of time you wish to display the sign.
What happens next?
- You will enter an address for the proposed works
- A map of this address is displayed.
- You must follow the instructions shown next to the map to identify the land within the boundary of your property or site. More detailed instructions can be found in the online expert map instruction document [PDF] (492K)
- Answer the series of questions relating to your proposal
- After answering all the questions, you will have the option to print or email an enquiry confirmation for your records. Please note this is an important document and should be kept for future reference
- Do not use your forward and back buttons in your browser.
This Online Expert System is designed to give you a definitive answer based on the information you provide. This includes the area(s) you identified on the map.
You can get a record of this answer that can be saved, printed or emailed to you.
The system is currently being updated and will soon be available.
Please note: The system is not intended to give you a formal determination (a Lawful Development Certificate). If you wish to submit for a formal determination by the council then you need to apply for a certificate of lawfulness under either section 191 or 192 of the Town and Country Planning act 1990.
