The council's research team sits within the Spatial Planning section in the Strategic Regeneration, Housing and Development Unit (SRHD). This area of the unit plays a pivotal research and analysis role providing vital data for the production of policy and other documents, both of a statutory and non-statutory nature, all of which contribute towards helping North Lincolnshire develop and become a better place to live.
Another function for this team is to ensure that planning policies are adhered to. Monitoring is vital in order to sufficiently enforce both national and local objectives. It is essential that as a unitary local authority we put in place the mechanisms which make monitoring and importantly, re-monitoring, possible.
Monitoring entails the collection of data in order to measure the performance of North Lincolnshire Council against other local authorities in the region and/or county, and to check how the council is doing against national targets. This can be done year on year in order to identify trends.
The role the team plays also covers work and projects such as:
Ongoing projects:
- Settlement Survey
- Local Development Framework, Evidence Base
- Employment Land Review
- Housing Land Assessment - including the Brownfield Strategy
- Waste Development Plan Document Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report
