Supplementary planning guidance

The council provides detailed development and planning guidance on a number of policy areas. This is to guide potential land use development in the area.

The guidance is issued in the form of Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) notes. These give information on specific local plan policies. The SPG notes currently available are:

The council will produce more SPGs in the future. This will include:

  • Sustainable development
  • Strategic flood risk assessment.

Conservation area appraisals are also classed as SPGs. The council's environment team produces the appraisals. The number of appraisals currently stands at:

  • Twelve that have been adopted or are at the adoption stage
  • Five that are at the public consultation stage or are waiting to be put out to public consultation.
