This additional Issues and Options paper forms the first stage in preparing the Gypsy and Traveller site allocations in the Housing and Employment Land Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD).
Following the Issues and Options stage of the Housing and Employment Land Allocations DPD, the council resolved to produce an additional Issues and Options paper. This is due to the fact that no sites had been identified for Gypsy and Traveller sites in the previous round of consultation.
This document sets out background information as to where Gypsy and Traveller sites need to be provided in North Lincolnshire over the next 15 years.
This Issues and Options paper proposes potential site options that may be appropriate for Gypsy and Traveller sites, gauge public opinion on the proposed sites and allow possible alternative sites to be submitted for consideration in the Housing and Employment Land Allocations DPD at the Preferred Options stage.
The council, in partnership with North East Lincolnshire Council has a Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment (GTAA). This has identified Scunthorpe, Brigg and Barton upon Humber as areas where Gypsy and Traveller sites should be located, due its findings and the number of repeat encampments in these areas. From these findings the council has decided to look primarily at Scunthorpe, Brigg and Barton upon Humber for suitable sites.
