The Government has recently changed the planning system in England. It made
these changes through the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. It's created
a new way of how we plan the future development of North Lincolnshire.
The
system of structure plans and local plans has been replaced by a type of plan
known as the Local Development Framework (LDF).
The
LDF together with the new Regional
Spatial Strategy for Yorkshire and the Humber will form
the development plan for North Lincolnshire. It'll be the basis on which any
planning decisions are made. The LDF will help shape the future of North Lincolnshire's
towns, villages and countryside for the next 10 to 20 years.
A
major feature of the LDF is that there will be more opportunities for you to
get involved. This means you can help influence how we plan the future of your
area.
The
council's Spatial Planning team will lead the LDF process. The team will work
together with local people, key groups and organisations in North Lincolnshire.
The
main components of the Local Development Framework are:

18 November 2009 and is now available to view. It sets out the main stages for
the preparation of the Local Development Documents which make up the LDF.
Statement
of Community Involvement
A
revised version of the Statement
of Community Involvement has been issued for public

making process for major planning applications.
Strategic
Housing Land Availability Assessment
In
November 2009, North Lincolnshire Council completed the Strategic
Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA). This document
identifies the availability of land for housing development within North Lincolnshire
in order that the council can maintain a five year supply of available housing
land, and a longer term 15 year, supply of developable land to meet government
targets.
The
SHLAA will form part of the evidence base, along with other information, to
inform decisions in plan making, including future allocations within Local Development
Framework documents.
The
Employment Land Review
In
October 2009, North Lincolnshire Council completed an Employment
Land Review. This report provides an assessment of employment
land in North Lincolnshire. The findings from the study will be used by North
Lincolnshire Council to aid development of the Local Development Framework (LDF)
and identify long-term employment land provision in the area.
The
Employment Land Review will form part of the evidence base, along with other
information, to inform decisions in plan making, including future allocations
within Local Development Framework documents.
Gypsies
and Travellers in the Barton-upon-Humber area
In
2009, North Lincolnshire Council commissioned the Housing and Urban Studies
Unit from the University of Salford to carry out an assessment of the housing
needs of the Gypsies
and Travellers in the Barton-upon-Humber area.
The
report works with the current Gypsies and Travellers living in Barton-upon-Humber
to understand their specific needs, through a qualitative survey. This document
will be included within the evidence base for the North Lincolnshire Local
Development Framework.
