Local Development Framework - Local Development Documents (LDDs)

The Local Development Framework (LDF) is made up of number of documents, known as Local Development Documents (LDDs), which cover a range of subjects. These LDDs include the Statement of Community Involvement, and a sustainablility appraisal/strategic environment assessment. The main parts of the Local Development Framework (LDF) are the Development Plan Documents (DPDs) and Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs).

Development Plan Documents (DPDs)

DPDs are a statutory part of the LDF and will be subject to an indepedent examination by a planning inspector during their preparation. DPDs include the following documents:

Core Strategy - this sets out the vision for the future development of North Lincolnshire over the next 15 years. It will set out policies which map out where future growth and development can take place in the area. All other DPDs must conform to the policies set out in it.

The Core Strategy is now at the preferred options stage and the preferred options document, together with the accompanying draft Sustainability Appraisal Report is now available for comment. You can view and comment on the preferred options document using our online consultation system. This stage builds on the consultation done with the public in the planning process at the issues and options stage between April and August 2006. The results of the consultation exercises are available to view online. The responses received and survey results have helped to shape the preferred options. Documents are available to view at Local Link offices, Pittwood House in Scunthorpe and local libraries, as well as on this website.

Site specific allocations of land

This document will set out the policies and proposals for the development of specific sites within North Lincolnshire. In our case, the first sort of land allocations that will be tackled are the housing and employment land allocations.

Area actions plans

These are documents which will set out the the planning framework for areas of change and conservation. At present, the council has no plans to publish any area action plans.

General development control policies

These policies will provide more detailed guidance on issues in the Core Strategy to help determine planning applications. No timetable has yet been set for the preparation of this document. In the meantime, the existing North Lincolnshire Local Plan together with the Regional Spatial Strategy will be used to help determine planning applications.

The timing of any future LDDs will be determined by the need to produce them. This will be established in the Annual Monitoring report, which must be produced by 31 December each year. Any future LDDs will be introduced via the annual revision of the Local Development Scheme (LDS).

Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)

These are non-statutory documents used to supplement policies and strategies set out in the Development Plan Documents (DPDs). They can cover a wide range of issues. The timing of any future SPDs will be determined by the need to produce them. This will be established in the Annual Monitoring report, which must be produced by 31 December each year. Any future SPDs will be introduced via the annual revision of the Local Development Scheme (LDS).

For updates on progress of the preparation of the LDDs, please visit our LDF News Centre.
