Estate management

The council provides an estate management service for the land and property it owns in the area. The asset management team, within property and leisure services is mainly responsible for managing the council's property assets.

Services provided include:

  • Sales
  • Lettings
  • Acquisitions
  • Property management
  • Asset valuations
  • Professional property advice

The council offers a broad range of property, both for sale and for rent. Properties range from building plots, individual garage sites to major residential development sites, and surplus operational property.

The land and property portfolio of the council includes:

  • Schools
  • Adult education centres
  • Children's homes
  • Older people's homes
  • Day centres
  • Offices and depots
  • Cemeteries and crematoriums
  • Libraries and Local Links
  • Sports facilities, playing fields and open space
  • Museums and Normanby Hall
  • Car parks
  • Public conveniences
  • Civic amenity sites

Industry, commerical, town centre property and markets are managed by the commercial property team.

The council's property nd leisure service occasionally has land and property for sale or lease. If you see an empty council building, it isn't always available for the public. We check for other uses in the council first. We then seek Cabinet Member approval to put the property on the market. See council surplus land and premises.
