Food, water and other sampling

The council's Environmental Health, Food and Safety team samples food, water, food equipment and food handlers. Samples are taken:

As part of local and national sampling programmes
As part of an investigation into a complaint, outbreak or prosecution
As part of an inspection.

We sample to:

Identify where there may be shortcomings in a food business
Identify where there may be a widespread problem with certain foods
Ensure consumers are not exposed to unsafe foods.
