Environmental health problems involving serious events, fatalities, imminent risks to health or acute pollution of the environment don’t always occur during office hours. Because of this, the environmental health emergency contact centre is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The majority of calls we receive can be dealt with by advice or referral to a more appropriate service, but a duty officer will always be available to assess the situation and respond appropriately.
