Barking dogs

The council responds to complaints about barking dogs.

Dogs can bark for a number of reasons, often because they are afraid, lonely, mistreated or protecting their family or property. But barking dogs can cause a nuisance to surrounding residents.

Following a report of a barking dog a dog warden will talk to the complainant and the dog owner. They can offer advice that may resolve the situation.

However, if the barking continues to cause nuisance to the complainant the matter may be passed to an environmental health officer, and a full investigation will take place.

If you have any problems with barking dogs please contact the council on 01724 297000 or use our online Noise Reporting Form.
