Landlords' Forum

The council holds quarterly Landlords' Forums.

  • Chair - Harpreet Atwal
  • Vice Chair - Ellen Chant
  • Secretary - Neelam Jangra

The council has changed the face of the Landlords' Forum. It has begun this process by electing local landlords to take the role of chair and vice chair.

To transform this into an event exclusively for landlords, the council needs your ideas and comments.

Please take the time to complete the attached feedback form and return it to:

Feedback form (49.6k)

Each forum allows landlords to have the freedom to:

  • Discuss issues that are of concern to them
  • Exchange views, opinions and perspectives with each other
  • Share important information and provide support to each other
  • Choose subjects that they would like more information on or would like to openly discuss
  • Provide feedback on new issues or developments.

In return the council will:

  • Update landlords on changes in legislation
  • Provide information on important developments within the council
  • Provide information on developments in the North Lincolnshire area that have an impact on the community.

The council is working hard to improve working relationships with landlords who have property in North Lincolnshire. It has begun to achieve this via the Landlord Accreditation Scheme.

The scheme was launched in November 2004. There are now 16 members of the scheme - 14 landlords and two letting agents. This equates to a total of 258 properties.

North Lincolnshire needs good quality housing. The council wants to provide all the support landlords need to maintain and increase the availability of good quality housing stock.

Forthcoming meetings

The next Landlords' Forum meeting takes place on Thursday 30 October 2008 at 6.30pm. The venue is the Barkeley Hotel in Scunthorpe.

Landlord training courses

Landlord training courses are very successful. If there is sufficient demand, the council hopes to hold more in the future. If you are interested in attending, please call 01724 297431 or email housing@northlincs.gov.uk.

For more information contact Environmental Health on 01724 297827 or email: environmentalhealth.housing@northlincs.gov.uk.

Landlord consultation

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 has come into effect. This requires councils to work together towards a common arrangement for enforcement. This may have an effect on local landlords, we would welcome your opinions on the draft working document and will take them into consideration.

If you have any comments please contact Ian Denston on 01724 297431 or email ian.denston@northlincs.gov.uk

If you wish to join the Landlords' Forum mailing list to receive news of forum meetings, please complete the online Landlords' Forum mailing list form.
