Most people have heard of conservation areas but few fully understand how a conservation area works.
The draft appraisal for the Burton upon Stather conservation area provides an explanation of the workings of a conservation area. It also gives an assessment of Burton's character and appearance. The council consulted local people on its proposals for the area. It has amended the appraisal following this consultation.
