Appleby Conservation Area Appraisal

Most people have heard of conservation areas but few fully understand how a conservation area works.

The draft appraisal for the Appleby conservation area provides an explanation of the workings of a conservation area and an assessment of Appleby's character and appearance.

There is also what is known as draft supplementary planning advice. This elaborates on the council's existing policies for conservation areas contained in its local plan. It also suggests some future courses of action to help preserve the character and appearance of the conservation area.

Appleby response form (32K)

We would like to hear from anyone who lives, works, or uses facilities in the Appleby conservation area and has opinions about its character, appearance and condition. People who live in the local area will also have opinions and we would be pleased to hear from them as well.

Note: The leaflet is quite a large document and may take some time to download.

Copies of all the above documents are available for viewing at Pittwood House and Church Square House in Scunthorpe.
