Barking dogs

The council responds to complaints about barking dogs.

Dogs bark if they are afraid, lonely, mistreated or protecting their family or property. Dogs left alone will bark and cause a nuisance to surrounding homes.

The warden will talk to the complainant and the dog owner to find out what the problems are. They will try to find a way to stop the dog barking. If the problem cannot be solved by agreement, the warden can refer the complaint to the RSPCA or the environmental health officer. This may result in legal proceedings with the warden giving evidence.

If you have any problems with barking dogs please contact the council on 01724 297000.
